From a young age I was drawn – no pun intended – to the arts and craft projects. A creative mind has many avenues it could wander down. In high school I attended art courses that were heavily 2-dimensional based art courses. I enjoyed drawing, painting, and graphic work, but nothing is as pleasing to me then to build something with my hands. At home I made little figurines out of bake-able clay my mom got at Jo-Ann Fabrics. It wasn’t until I was accepted into SUNY Oswego that I was introduced to sculptural work. At SUNY Oswego I kept in touch with the 2-D mediums, but I took in anything and everything sculpture had to offer. I found a great understanding of ceramics. This medium allowed me to dabble into mixing medias. For example, in my final semester work, I used clay, molds, and resin. Then when I was accepted into Nazareth I was introduced to watercolor painting. I began to building my watercolor portfolio. I believe the more techniques and mediums I have in my control the better teacher I will become.
Currently I am focusing on filling up a sketchbook. Drawing for at least 20 minutes a day to keep my creativity flowing for myself and most importantly my students!
